Love is in the Air

The weather outside is cold and dreary, so we wanted to make a nice bright craft today!  Since Valentine’s Day will soon be here, we made a Valentine’s craft.

Before beginning our craft, I read, Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse by Laura Numeroff. In the story, Mouse makes valentines for all of his friends. Olivia hasn’t decided yet if she is going to give away her creation from today. For now, it’s hanging on our wall.

Here are the materials that we used to make today’s craft:

  • A white sheet of construction paper
  • Another sheet of construction paper (any color)
  • Tape
  • Marker
  • Scissors
  • Paint dots

First, I folded the sheet of construction paper in half, and drew the outline of a heart and cut it out.

Next, I taped the heart to the center of the white paper so that it acted as a stencil.

Then, Olivia used the paint dots to cover all of the white spaces on the paper. She had fun overlapping the markers to see how the colors changed.

After, covering all of the white spaces, we removed the stencil. Olivia was so excited to see the end result. It was like magic to her!
