On Thursday we went back to the aquarium – this time with my parents and my sister’s family. Olivia loved showing her cousin her favorite penguin lookout where she likes to pretend she is Ariel. Our local aquarium is pretty small, so it’s difficult to find something new today. However, today Olivia was feeling brave and actually touched some of the things in the Touch Tank!
To stick with the sea theme, today’s crafts was a colorful fish. This craft required more help from me, since we used a hot glue gun. Here are the materials that we used:
- paper lantern
- 2 white circles with a diameter of 1 1/2”
- 2 blue circles with a diameter of 1”
- construction paper square – 6”
- 2 tissue paper triangles for side fins
- larger (5” height) back fin
- fishing line – 12”
Although I did all of the prep work, Olivia was able to do some of the gluing. She glued the blue circles onto the white circles, and the back fin onto the construction paper square. After that, I used the hot glue to glue the eyes, side fins, and construction paper to the paper lantern. Finally, I used a pair of scissors to put a whole in the top of the fish. I stuck the fishing line through the whole, and made a knot in it so that we could hang up our fish. We made a bunch of these fish so that they could be used as decorations for the Vacation Bible School at our church.
