Rainbow Shamrock

img_1867img_1884Now that Dr. Seuss’ birthday is over, we are ready to move on to St. Patrick’s Day!  I am only a tiny bit Irish, but Olivia is more than 25% Irish, so it’s my duty to make sure that we celebrate!  Olivia loves to look for rainbows, so I thought it would be fun to make a shamrock shaped suncatcher in all of the colors of the rainbow.  (She made me sing the rainbow song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse while she worked on her suncatcher).  Here are the materials that we used:
– tiny squares of tissue paper, in all of the colors of the rainbow
– 2 sheets of contact paper
– A stencil of a shamrock – I printed a shamrock coloring page off of the internet

I taped one of the sheets of contact paper (sticky side up) to Olivia’s craft table and asked her to put the pieces of tissue paper onto it.  When she had covered most of the contact paper, I had her help me place the other sheet on top.  Then I used the shamrock stencil to cut out a rainbow colored shamrock!
