Be My Valentine!

img_1418img_1425Valentine’s Day is a great time to tell our family members how much they mean to us.  Since Olivia has come along, I have tried to find a fun valentine craft for her to make each year.  This year we used Olivia’s handprints to make a heart.  To make these hearts, I folded a piece of construction paper in half and traced Olivia’s hand onto it.  The secret was to make sure that her pointer finger and thumb rested on the crease of the paper.  After I finished tracing Olivia’s hand, I cut it out, and unfolded it.  In case the wording is a bit confusing, take a look at the pictures below to see how we made these hearts.
Once the hearts were complete, Olivia used a glue stick to glue them onto another piece of construction paper.  It was very cute watching her choose colors that she thought that everyone would like.  I had originally planned to just use traditional Valentine’s Day colors, but giving her options seemed more fun and meaningful.   After the hearts were glued onto the paper, we added messages and stickers to the cards.  I know that Olivia is very excited to give these to all of her favorite people on Valentine’s Day!  img_1426
