It’s a Match!

Olivia is always looking for things that are the same! She becomes very proud of herself when she finds matching colors, matching characters, or really anything else that matches. Since we’ve been working on shapes lately, I thought it would be fun to make a matching game. I used four pieces of yellow construction paper, and cut them in half. I on each sheet I drew a circle, square, triangle, or heart. We began by just identifying them, and then I showed Olivia how to play a matching game with them. Since my purpose was for Olivia to practice her shape recognition, I made sure that she was the one to make the matches. (I purposely matched the cards incorrectly). She became very excited every time that she made a match, and was so proud that she could label each of the shapes.
